Vlissingen, September 8, 2025 To highlight the importance of safety and well-being in the workplace, Verbrugge Terminals will host its Safety and Family Day on September 26, 2025. On this day, operations will be temporarily suspended so that employees can take time to reflect together on the value of safety and health—both in their professional and personal lives. Following the Safety Day programme, Verbrugge will open its doors to welcome employees’ families, with the event concluding with a festive barbecue.

The day will feature a varied programme of interactive workshops, demonstrations and presentations. The focus will not only be on safety at the terminals but also on current topics such as port-related crimes and self-reliance. By tackling such topics openly, Verbrugge aims to increase safety awareness and empower its employees to handle risks both inside and outside the company.

“Safety isn’t optional — it’s our top priority” stresses Philippe Brackman, Chief Operations Officer. “Within our company, safety and health always come first! We believe every employee is a guardian of their own safety, the safety of their colleagues, and the safety of everyone on our premises. Every day, we strive for a work environment where no one gets injured. Our mission is clear: The Road to Zero. Each day we strive for a workplace where no one is harmed. Ultimately, one thing matters above all else: that everyone returns home safely.

Together we make safety a habit! With this safety day, we aim to enhance our employees’ overall safety awareness through various educational activities,” says Robbert de Reus, Communications and Marketing Officer. “We’re proud to share that several external parties, including Dutch Customs, the Police, the Veiligheidsregio Zeeland (Zeeland Safety Region), and various suppliers, have offered to participate in our safety day. There will be workshops and demonstrations on safety awareness, working at heights and hearing damage prevention. Employees will have the chance to identify hazards in an escape room and exit one of our cranes by performing an emergency descent.”

By learning, practicing and raising awareness together, Verbrugge continues to take steps towards creating a safer working environment for everyone.
